Casualties of the cat wars...

Taking a break from the vacation posts to tell our latest cat adventures...

Getting up at 5:30 in the morning all week long really gets old by the time Friday rolls around.  I look forward all week long to sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday morning.  This weekend, though, our cats decided we didn't really need to sleep in... they started rough-housing and romping through the house.  A couple of them came hissing down the hallway and bounded up on the bed - scaring Petey in the process.  Petey then bounded towards my face and used my eyebrow for a little leverage!  Yoooooooouch!!!  What a rude awaking!

Then there's poor Katie...

And, poor Dave!

Katie likes to keep to herself.  She rarely plays (when she does, though, it's quite entertaining).  She doesn't like being crowded by the others.  She just enjoys laying on Dave's lap.  She claimed her spot there the very night we adopted her from the animal shelter and is usually there whenever Dave is in his recliner.
Katie also can't see out of her one eye very well.  We're not sure what's wrong with it or what may have happened to it before we adopted her, but we're pretty sure it affects her peripheral vision.  If we or any of the cats come up too quietly on her side with the "bad" eye, she jumps.  She's very defensive as well.

Perhaps the combination of her standoffish attitude and defensive nature have made her a target of the boys.  They **love** to pick on her.  We scold them, yell at them, spray them with water bottles... all to no avail.  They constantly follow and harass her.  The past couple days, though, after they scare her, she jumps up on Dave's lap... and pees on him!  What the HECK?!!  Poor Dave!

It looks like there will be a vet visit in her very near future to find out what is going on.  Poor Katie...

Sigh.  The crazy adventures of this cat lady continue...
